Medicare Agent to Broker

In 2019, I obtained my insurance license and began working as a life insurance agent. However, just six months into the business, the pandemic turned everything upside down. A lifelong friend who had been a director at an insurance provider for nearly 15 years recommended I shift to Medicare. In 2020, I started as a captive agent representing an insurance company, and through that role, I gained valuable experience. By 2021, I had moved to New Jersey and started working for a major insurance provider, helping hundreds of seniors.

Although I enjoyed working for the insurance company, I felt limited by only offering one provider’s products. In 2023, I made the decision to become an independent broker to better serve my clients’ unique needs. Becoming a broker has allowed me to offer unbiased solutions tailored to my clients, comparing options from multiple companies. It has been the best decision I’ve made, as my clients are happier, and I can genuinely help them in a way I couldn’t before.

I quickly found that my favorite part of the job was not just helping seniors understand their benefits but connecting with them on a personal level. Listening to their stories and building real relationships made every day meaningful. I try to treat each client the way I would want someone to treat my grandmother—with respect, kindness, and a promise to leave them in a better place after having met me than they were before we met. That’s why I love what I do.
